Mrs. Betty Sue Rice Childress, 78, wife of the late John Thomas Childress, Sr., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Oakmont West Nursing Center.
Born in Pickens County on June 7, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Elmer E. and Beulah Watson Rice. Mrs. Childress was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a faithful christian lady who loved and served the Lord.
Surviving are two sons, Roger K. Childress, and his wife, Donna, John T. Childress, Jr. and his wife, Betty, all of Easley; daughter, Sandra C. Williams and her husband, Stanley, of Easley; brother, Malcomb Rice, of Easley; two sisters, Deborah Orr of Graniteville, SC and Sybil Childress of Easley; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Iva Nell Galloway; brothers, Clyde Rice, and Bert Rice; and great-grandson, Luke Enderle.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
