Betty Raynell Williams Colman, formerly of 305 Inverness Way, Smithfield Country Club, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at The Residence of Park Place in Seneca.
Born in Haleyville, AL, to the late Joseph Rayburn and Lora Farris Williams, sister to Joyce Cauthen, the late Herschel Williams and Nadine Hess, all formerly of Lakeland, FL.
Betty was a cheerleader and prom queen at Haleyville High School. After graduation in 1946 she married and moved to Cincinnati, OH. Two daughters, who survived her, were born of that union, Linda Faulkner and Cynthia Gilster.
She was an executive secretary for Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, OH for fifteen years. In 1965 she married Julius "J" Colman, a division manager for Ford. During that time they traveled the world and enjoyed collecting artifacts from many unique and interesting cultures.
Betty enjoyed sewing, entertaining, flower arranging, playing bridge and was an active member of Easley Presbyterian Church. She participated in Stevens Ministry and continued to care for two elderly members years beyond the limits of the program. She was always generous with her time and talent and willing to help whenever she could.
Betty is survived by her immediate family; sister, Joyce Cauthen of Buford, GA; daughter, Linda Faulkner and husband, Neal, of Abbeville, and daughter, Cynthia Gilster and husband, Bill, of Seneca; granddaughter, Gina Grande of Austin, TX; and two grandsons, Jason and Ryan Baerwolf of DeForest, WI. In addition to her parents and sister, Mrs. Colman was predeceased by her husband, Julius "J" Colman.
A service celebrating Betty's life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with Rev. Christie Gravely officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
