Betty June Crowley Dixon Gandy, 88, passed away on Friday, April 8,2022 in the Clemson Downs Retirement Community in Clemson, SC.
Mrs. Gandy was born in Hartsville, SC, the only child of the late Junius B. Crowley and Vienna White Crowley Register. She was a 1951 graduate of Hartsville High School in Hartsville, SC, and attended Coker College. Known to many as “Betty June”, she enjoyed music and traveling with family, and she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman of incredible faith and devoted many years to the Lord’s work including being a charter member of North Hartsville Baptist Church, in Hartsville, SC, in addition to choir director, then serving as a church member and choir director at Black Creek Baptist Church in Dovesville, SC, for many years. Mrs. Gandy retired as an office clerk with Carolina Power and Light Company where she worked for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #91 and served as Worthy Matron in 1962-1963.
Betty June was predeceased by her parents and her first husband, James Ervin Dixon, Jr. She is survived by her second husband, William C. Gandy, Jr; children, Pamela June (Albert) Hay of Pendleton and William “Craig” (Phyllis) Gandy of Darlington; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hay of Easley and Ashley Gandy of Florence.
A memorial service to honor the life of Betty June will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church Clemson with Dr. Rusty Brock officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9am, followed by a service at 10am. A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville, SC at 3pm. The 10am service will be live streamed at Black Creek Baptist Church in Dovesville, SC or can be seen on your personal computer using the link www.fbcclemson.com.
