Betty Sweatman Holland, born on February 3, 1937, of 637 North Martin Road, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at Baptist Easley Hospital at the age of 73. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Born in Mount Airy, NC, the daughter of the late Carl Keith and Margaret Pardue Sweatman. Mrs. Holland was a 1955 graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, NC and attended Pfeiffer University in Richfield, NC. She retired as a secretary of the Higher Education Center with Clemson University. She had previously retired from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Mrs. Holland had previously taught Sunday School at Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC and was formerly involved with the Miss North Carolina Pageant. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, William R. Holland of the home; two sons, Mark Lee Watson of Lexington, NC, and John Cleda Watson, of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters, Robin Mae James of Salisbury, NC, and Jennifer Lind Thomas of Clemmons, NC; a brother, Robert Lee Sweatman and his wife Paula of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a step-son, Richard Christopher Holland of Piedmont, SC; a step-daughter, Kimberly Michelle Skelton of Taylors, SC; grandchildren, Alan Shane Thomas, Brandon Lee Holleman, Jonathon Lee Watson, Brittany Skelton and Brooke Skelton; two great-grandchildren, Christian Alan Thomas and Jacob Alan Thomas; a nephew, Robert Lee Sweatman, II of Louisville, Ky.; a cousin, Jackie Dillon of Walkertown, NC; and her beloved Toy Poodle, Molly. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holland was predeceased by her Aunt Mae and Uncle Cleda Sutphin.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.

Chapel service and burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in The Praying Hands Section of The Park Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC. All friends are welcome.
