Betty Brown Madden

Anderson, South Carolina

 

Betty Brown Madden ,87, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother of Anderson, South Carolina, entered peacefully into her eternal home on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

 

Betty was born in Sanderson, FL, in Baker County. She was a graduate of Berry College in Rome, GA, and earned her master’s degree in Guidance Counseling from the University of West Georgia. She had a rewarding career for 29 years as an educator. Her love for knowledge motivated her to become an avid reader. She also volunteered at the library in Anderson, SC and taught Sunday School. She and her late husband were members of Anderson First Baptist Church.

 

Left to cherish Betty’s wonderful memories are her sons, Marvin Anthony Madden and his wife Carolyn of Grayson, Georgia, and Timothy Brown Madden and his wife Teresa of Anderson; grandchildren, Trinity Buckner (Nick), Timberlie Madden, and Twila Madden all of Anderson; three great grandchildren, Jackson, Colquitt and Olivia Buckner of Anderson; one brother, George “Bud” Marvin Brown (Penny); two sisters, Margie Dunn (Ray) and Gail Brown.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Leonard Brown and Athena Irene Raulerson Brown; her devoted husband of 50 years, James Marvin Madden; two brothers, Ray Elgin Brown and Mark Brown; also, two sisters, Claudean “Dean” Brown Rhoden and Nettie Ruth Brown. 

 

A graveside service to honor Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2023, in Robinson Memorial Gardens – 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC with the Rev. Josh Hunt officiating. A private family visitation will be held one hour prior starting at 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.

 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in Betty Brown Madden’s memory to Ray and Athena Brown Scholarship Fund @ Gateway Community College in Lake City FL.

 

She may have left this life behind, but her memories will live on through her family and loved ones. She will always be remembered for the impact that she left on everyone fortunate to have met her.
