Betty Layton Morton

Betty Marie Morton (Layton) died at home on February 22, 2021, after an over 50 year battle with Type I diabetes. She was 73 years old.

Betty was the oldest daughter of the late Arthur Layton and surviving mother Edith (Smith) Layton, and was born in St. Louis, MO. She was a devoted sister to her cherished siblings, Bob Layton and wife Sue of St. Peters, MO, Harold Layton and wife Maureen of Darden Prairie, MO, Linda Kaucher of St. Louis, MO, Kathy Bub and husband Tim of O'Fallon, MO, and Jim Layton of Chesterfield, MO.

Betty married the late Peter "Mike" Morton on August 27, 1966 and together they raised three children, throughout Missouri and Texas. She was a loving, supportive mother who cared deeply for her family. Betty was preceded in death by her infant daughter Laurie Ann Morton. Surviving are her beloved children, one daughter, Lisa Marie Montgomery and her husband Jayden, of Lake Villa, IL; two sons, Michael Christopher Morton and fiancé Mandy Conlin Ruske, of Liberty, SC; and Todd Morton and wife Michelle Morton of Cornelius, NC. In addition to her children, Betty adored her four grandchildren and was proud to be their "Grandma" & "Oh-my", Christopher Michael Morton of Camp Lejeune, NC; Zack Ruske of Liberty, SC; Joshua Morton and Addison Morton, of Cornelius, NC. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws.

Betty was proud to be a part of the Easley community and enjoyed volunteering at Baptist Easley Hospital while her health permitted as well as with The United Way of Pickens County.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, March 1, 2021 at 12:15pm at St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Robinson Funeral Home - 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC.
