Betty Leitzel Marks Penfold died August 25, 2015, one day short of her ninety first birthday, at Clemson Downs.
Born in Richfield, PA, August 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James S. Leitzel Sr. and Dorothy Losch Leitzel.
She was a graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville, PA. Prior to moving to Seneca, SC in 1985, she was a resident of Lewistown, PA and McAlisterville, PA. A member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in McAlisterville, she retained that membership through her moves.
Mrs. Penfold was preceded in death by her husbands, G. William Marks and Cpt. Jack R. Penfold and her two brothers, Palmer Leitzel and James S. Leitzel, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. Edward (Kay) Hastings of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Ann Maxwell of Etters, PA; three stepchildren, Mrs. Donald A. (Eileen) Smith of Seabrook, SC, Richard R. Penfold of Crystal River, FL, and Cpt. Robert R. Penfold of Pensecola, FL. Also surviving are three grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and sixteen step great grandchildren.
Burial at the convenience of the family will be in Hillside Cemetery in McAlisterville, PA.
