Betty Anne Sitton, beloved sister, daughter and friend, peacefully passed away at NHC-Greenville on Easter Sunday, March 31st, after battling Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes since the age of 10. Only the most special people get to go to Heaven and meet Jesus on Easter. For several weeks she had been talking about the "train" that would take her there, and she was told by an angel that she didn't have to worry about getting any "new shoes" in order to get on board.
A native of Easley, Betty was the daughter of the late John Dixon and Ruth Ragsdale Sitton and granddaughter of the late James C and Queen J Sitton and the late Walter H and Sallie H Ragsdale. Betty attended local schools, St Genevieve-of-the-Pines and Bauder College. She was a homemaker, dedicating much of her life to helping her parents--lovingly serving as her mother's caregiver during the last decade of her life, as she did with her father 20 years prior. She had a "giver" personality, always putting others before herself. She loved going to the beach with her best friend Hollace, as well as entertaining friends and relatives at the family lake house. Betty was selfless to a fault and possessed a heart of gold. She truly never had an enemy and was an instant friend to all who met her. She always attempted to teach her younger siblings to respect and be kind to all people.
Surviving are her "big-sister," Dorothy (Dottie) Ashley of Greenville, her "little-sister," Dale Rogers and husband Rick of Roanoke Rapids NC and her two "little-brothers," James C Sitton II of Greenville and Atlanta and John D Sitton Jr of Easley, as well as her first cousin and "third-sister," Jere Ragsdale Coker of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 5th, at First United Methodist Church in Easley. A private burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). The family is at the home of Dottie Ashley, 111 Swansgate Place in Greenville.
