Betty Ruth Gillespie Washnok, 79, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca. A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Roy L and Susie Maxie Gillespie. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central and the Order of the Eastern Star, Clemson Chapter No. 191 and Liberty Chapter No 80. She was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth Monaghan�??s-Poinsettia Court No. 17. She was a loving and loyal mother and friend.
She is survived by daughter, Becky Smith (Barry) of Clemson. She was predeceased by husband, Lt.-Col (Retired) Robert L. Washnok, brother, Roy L. Gillespie, Jr. and sister, Wilma Todd.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson funeral home in Central with burial to follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Seneca. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
