Bill Kilgore

William D. "Bill" Kilgore, Sr., 77, of 121 Wrenfield Court, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Carroll County, GA, a son of the late D.M. "Doc" and Pearl Cheatwood Kilgore, Mr. Kilgore received his BS Degree in textile engineering from Georgia Tech and retired from Dixie Converting in Carrollton, GA, and was previously employed with Cone Mills and Michelin North America. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the US Navy aboard the USS Hancock. Mr. Kilgore was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and was also a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Marilyn Widener Kilgore of the home; two daughters, Melissa Kilgore Nelson and husband, Tommy, of Clemson, and Julie Kilgore Scott and husband, Len, of Spartanburg; a brother, Jack Douglas Kilgore and wife, Neysa, of Hixon, TN; a sister, Barbara K. Rivers of Snellville, GA; grandchildren, Adam Nelson, Blake Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson, Meghan Scott, Sarah Scott Warner and husband, Adam, John Patrick Scott and Brittany Kilgore; a great-grandson, Kaden Nelson; a brother-n-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Cheryle Turner of Carrollton, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kilgore was predeceased by a son, William D. Kilgore, Jr., his wife, Deborah H. Kilgore and their son, William D. Kilgore III; and by a brother-in-law, Robert Rivers.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville with Rev. Dr. Keith Shorter officiating. Grandson John Patrick Scott will play TAPS at the folding and presentation of the flag.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
