William George "Bill" League, 77, of 409 Herringbone Run, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Easley, he was a son of the late William Claude and Mattie Rankin League and husband of Jo Black League. He was a life long member of Glenwood Baptist Church. In recent years, he was an active attendant of Arial Methodist Church. He and Jo recently joined Georges Creek Baptist Church and became active members of the Abundant Life Sunday School Class. Mr. League graduated from Easley High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at Saco Lowell in Easley where he retired in 1996, after 40 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Black League of the home; two daughters, Kathy League Shiefer, Sharon League Russell ; a brother, Donald W. League; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Lou Hawkins League; and a sister, Margaret League Jones.
A graveside service will be on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00am at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Joe Whisnant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Cancer Center of the Carolinas, 109 Fleetwood Drive, Easley, SC 29640.
The families are at their respective homes.
