John William "Bill" Smith, 88, of 202 Haverhill Circle, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Born in Eden, NC, he was the son of the late Earnest Myron Smith and Elva Davis Smith.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of NC State University. He retired from Alice Manufacturing after 17 years of dedicated service and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Homemakers Sunday School Class. He served his country proudly in US Navy during WWII.

Surviving are his wife of the home, Lois LaBoone Smith; a son, Paul Wayne Smith (Lori) of Easley; a step son, John LaBoone (Tracey); grandchildren, Melissa Millwood, Shannon Greenwell, Whitney Gilchrist, Austin McNamee, Coleman Smith and Haley Smith; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Talbott Smith; a daughter, Terri Smith McNamee; and a step son, Michael LaBoone.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
