Billy "Bill" Frank Gaines

February 18, 1940 — July 31, 2025

Easley, South Carolina

Billy “Bill” Frank Gaines, 85, of Easley, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025. A devoted husband of 35 years to Claudia Gaines, a proud grandpa and "GG-Pa”. Bill was a fun-loving, family-first kind of guy who brought joy and laughter to every room he entered.

Born on February 18, 1940, in Hartwell, Georgia, Bill was the son of the late Guy Gaines, Sr., and Pauline Moss Gaines. He graduated from Parker High School in 1958 and went on to dedicate much of his working life as a skilled Textile Machinist at G&F Machine Shop. Bill was the kind of person who never met a stranger. Known for his sense of humor and easy smile, he was the life of every gathering and deeply cherished the time spent with his family.

In his downtime, Bill enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. He was a talented pool player, a devoted fan of Old Westerns, and an enthusiastic supporter of both the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also loved to read, always curious and eager to learn something new.

Bill’s legacy of love lives on through his family. He is survived by his wife Claudia; two sons, Scott Gaines and Steve Gaines; two daughters, Deborah Flowers (Johnny) and Angela Mann (Scott); four grandchildren, Jake Gaines, Zachary Gaines, Heather Nathan (Brett), and Holly Knight (Hunter); and three and a half great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Cole, and Beau. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers—Guy “Pete” Gaines, Jr., Denver “Skeeter” Gaines, and Edward “Ed” Gaines—as well as his sister, Sara “Gig” Gaines Beacham.
