Billy Ray Burch, Sr.

Billy Ray "Papa Bill" Burch, Sr., 83, husband of Frances Andrews Burch, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Born in Greenville, a son of the late William C. Burch, Sr. and the late Louise Thomas Burch, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed gardening, flowers, his chickens, farming, antique cars, motorcycles, boating, his dogs, his cat, and spending time with his family. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and he retired after sixty-two years as a regional sales manager in building supplies. He was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church in Greenville.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Billy R. Burch, Jr. of Marietta, GA and Brian Whitmire of Greenville; daughters, Lynda Stoller (David) of Tybee Island, GA, Cathey Wood (Kevin) of Simpsonville, and Angie Cummings of Easley; a special cousin, Buffy Thomas of Easley; seventeen grandchildren; and over twenty great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Karen D. Burch; a brother, Cliff Burch; a sister, Ann McDonald; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bailey; and a son-in-law, Tim Cummings.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beyond Building Fund, Overbrook Baptist Church, 1705 East North Street, Greenville, SC 29607.
