Billy Joe Christopher, 72, of Easley and husband of Blanche S. Christopher, went to be with the Lord Wednesday December 19, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House.
Mr. Christopher was born in the Cedar Rock Community of Pickens County, the son of the late Cody M. and Estelle McCollum Christopher. He was a former employee of Fiber Industries and retired from BASF. He was a life-long member of the Bates Masonic Lodge and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Inspiration Bible Fellowship Class. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served at the beginning of the Vietnam War.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Rhonda C. Phillips (Keith), of Westminster, Tammy Goben and Tonja Gambrell, of Greenville; a sister, Peggy Porter, of Easley; 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Christopher and a sister, Lucille McJunkins.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Members of the Inspiration Bible Fellowship Class and the Bates Masonic Lodge are invited to serve as Escorts of Honor for the funeral service.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, prior to the service, at the church.
