Mr. Billy Homer Elrod, 79, husband of Nancy Hendrix Elrod, of 200 Sid Edens Road, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Homer and Wilma Elrod, Mr. Elrod served in the US Army as corporal from 1953-1956, having been stationed in Austria and Germany. He retired from the Marietta Plant of Milliken Corporation as a production manager, where he worked from 1952-1995. Billy was a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church since 1971, where he served as deacon and media specialist.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are two daughters, Sabrina E. Hendricks (Jay), and Melinda Kay Elrod; a son, Billy Darrell Elrod (Kerri Miller Elrod);two sisters, Audrey Stephens and Mozelle Banks; one brother, Jerry Elrod; and four grandchildren, Regan and Frankie Hendicks, and Kacie and Kenzie Elrod. In addition to his parents, Mr. Elrod was predeceased by a brother, Joel Elrod.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2013 at Oolenoy Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Monday at the church, prior to the service.
