Billy Joe White, 76, of Pendleton, passed away September 18, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Glenn and Edith Gillespie White. Bill graduated from Pendleton High School, where he excelled in the pole vault, track and field, and was a member of the FFA. He spent most of his career at Foothills Property management of Clemson, where he proudly worked for over 30 years. Bill also worked at Dobson Hardware, and Dockside Hardware.  He was an active member of Refuge Baptist Church, where he previously served as a deacon, trustee, on the cemetery committee, and choir member. Mr. White loved watching NASCAR, especially his favorite drivers, Bill Elliott, and Chase Elliot, and was an avid Clemson football fan. He had a deep affection for animals, especially cats.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracie White Roper, and husband Robert of La France and Sarah Ritchie and husband Shaun of Taylors; grandchildren, Drew Roper and wife Brittany and Abbey Ritchie; great-grandson, Blake Roper; brother, Glenn White, and wife Gloria; sister, Connie Black; nieces, Beverly Stovall, Heather Soto, Samantha Elliott and husband Mike, Melinda Utley and husband James, and Gina Harris and husband Deon; nephew, Eric Soto and wife Shaunda.

Bill was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Linda Ammons and Phyllis Irvin.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday October 14, at 12:00 PM, at Refuge Baptist Church, 219 Refuge Church Road, Pendleton, SC 29670.

Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the White family.
