Billy Eugene McGee, 90, husband of Julia McCollum McGee, of Easley, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Dillard Elzie and Minnie Lee Smith McGee.
Billy retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean War and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after over 30 years in the Navy Reserves. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, growing a large garden, raising cattle and horses, and playing baseball.
Billy was a man of deep faith and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and touched the lives of many young boys through his years as a RA Leader at Siloam Baptist Church. He loved Jesus, his family, and his country.
In addition his loving wife of 71 years, Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Rebecca McGee Hood (David); a son, Michael E. McGee; a granddaughter, Michelle McGee; three grandsons, Jonathan Hood, Justin Hood (Leslie), and Colton McGee; and a great-grandson, Kaleb Hood.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Michael McGee; a brother, Dillard E. McGee, Jr.; and two sisters, Obera M. Reed and Hilda M. Dragos.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, Building Fund, 201 Rock Springs Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
