Billy Ray Sands, 55, of 101 Wallace Drive, Apt D 103, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at his home.
Born in Richmond County, NC, he was a son of the late Henry Johnson and Alma Lee Willard Sands. He was a veteran of the US Marines, and worked as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jane Sullivan Sands of the home; three sons, Billy Ray Dejesus of Monroe, NC, John Louis Clark of Liberty, Fred Austin Sands of Easley; three daughters, Connie Anne Clark, Alma Lean Mathis, Billie Jean Lee, all of Easley; three brothers, Charles Sands of Edgefield, Reverend Jerry Lee Sands of Ramseur, NC, Jimmy Sands of Easley; two sisters, Marie Jones of Asheboro, NC, Shelby Bowman of Rockingham, NC; and nine grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Sands; and a sister, Daisy Kivette.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Friday at Tri-City Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor; New York, NY 10005.
