Bob Barnett Powell, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018, surrounded by his family. Mr. Powell was a devoted and loving husband for nearly 56 years to the late Wanda Lou Powell.
Born in Columbus, NC, a son to the late Lester Lee Powell and the late Emily Gurley Powell, Mr. Powell was a retired Supervisor at Dunean Plant after many years of service and was a cherished member of Living Sanctuary Church in Piedmont. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Powell was known by many names by those who loved him: Mo, Daddy, Pop, and Papa. He loved to work with his hands and problem-solve. He never met a stranger and was a great conversationalist. While Mr. Powell had many wonderful characteristics, his most noteworthy was the unconditional love he had for his family.
Surviving are daughters, Kim Bullard (David) of Powdersville and Katina Shirley (Tim) of Simpsonville; sisters, Barbara Owens and Gay Norris, both of Greenville; grandchildren, Brittani O'Connor (Josh), Seth Powell, Dustin Bullard (Nicole), Bethani Williams (Jimmy), Solomon Powell, Victoria Powell, Harrison Shirley, Jackson Shirley, and Grayson Shirley; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Powell, Cohen O'Connor, Jensen O'Connor, Athena Powell, and Judah Bullard.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, William Kelly Powell; and brothers, William Neil "Pee-Wee" Powell and Roger Britt Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Living Sanctuary Church, 201 Piedmont Road, Piedmont, SC 29673. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:15 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Church.
