Bobbie Free Dawkins
July 30, 1936 — December 4, 2016
Nannie Bobbie moved into her heavenly home on Sunday evening, Dec. 4, 2016 from Greenville Memorial Hospital. To God be Glory.
She was born July 30, 1936 in Rockingham NC to her parents, the late Evelyn Goodwin Free and Howard D. Free.
Bobbie was educated and worked in Rockingham where she spent her entire life. She was married June 30, 1955 to William Lewis Dawkins and parented three children.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Lewis and son Robin.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy D. Henderson of Easley SC and son, Corey Dawkins of Rockingham; one sister, Mary Free Kirk and brother–in–law Eddie Kirk of Statesville; grandchildren, Emily Dawkins Sellers (Phillip Sellers) of Ellerbe, Zachary, Lucas and Jenna Henderson of Easley SC, Blair, Blake and Brad Dawkins of Rockingham; great grandchildren, Brailynne Henderson, Karleigh and Nathan Sellers of Ellerbe; nephew, Kevin Kirk (Kelley) of Statesville; niece, Beth Kirk Rhyne (Rex) of Clayton NC; great nieces and nephews and special friends.
Bobbie loved and worked with the people in Richmond County through her service in the furniture and insurance business, and her later years in inside sales for Advanced Hearing where she retired in 2014. Her co-workers were many and became as family to her throughout the years.
Bobbie was a dedicated charter member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she was a devoted supporter of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, the 3L and a former choir member. She volunteered her special talent of cooking with her church and many of her friends. She loved being a friend to all.
Private viewing for family will be held Wednesday, December 7th at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, SC.
A Memorial service to celebrate her home going will be at 4:00PM on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2:30PM until 3:45PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you Honor Bobbie with a memorial to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 275 Airport Rd., Rockingham NC.
