Bobbie Jean McAlister Norris

Bobbie Jean McAlister Norris, 87, of Piedmont, South Carolina, wife of the late Rhyner Allen Norris, Jr., passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James and Dola McAlister. Bobbie was a graduate of Parker High School and was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Siloam Baptist Church, where she volunteered in the kitchen, cooked for church events, and going mission trips. Above all, she loved her family and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons; James Norris (Lisa) of Pickens, Jeff Norris (Debbie) of Piedmont; a daughter, Melinda Brown (E. Ray, Jr.) of Piedmont; son-in-law John Merritt of Piedmont; seven grandchildren, Allen Brown, Christopher Brown, Michael Brown, Alisha Brown Cox (Brandon), Neal Norris, Ryan Merritt (Kristen), Austin Merritt (McKenzie Richardson); ten great-grandchildren, Connor Smithson, Lanie Smithson, Noah Cox, Jonah Cox, Emmy Cox, Preston Roberts, Reese Brown, Hensley Merritt, Asher Merritt, and Blaine Schwartzmyer; and a brother; and Phillip McAlister (Sondra) of Greenville.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Allison Lane Norris Merritt; grandsons, Cody and Clay Merritt; three sisters, Yvonne Scott and Loretta Rollins and Jo Chafin; and brother, Jimmy McAlister.

She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. She is home in heaven and will be missed and remembered forever.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow the service in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
