Boyce Hester, 93, of Easley, South Carolina, husband of the late Shirley Ramsey Hester, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Born in Stanley, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Clyde and Kathleen Abernathy Hester. Boyce graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. His career was largely spent at J.P. Stevens, where he worked as an Industrial Engineer specializing in automotive carpet. One of his notable contributions during his tenure was implementing the method of water jet cutting, a process that reflected his commitment to innovation and efficiency. Before embarking on his professional path, Boyce served his country honorably for two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. Those who knew Boyce remembered him as a man of high moral character, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was known to support neighbors by assisting in building garages and offering companionship during times of hospital stays. He consistently placed the needs of others above his own, embodying a spirit of selflessness. Boyce found joy in the outdoors. Whether fishing off the pier in Surfside Beach with his wife or dove hunting alongside his son, he treasured these moments spent in nature. His creative side came through in building birdhouses, which his wife then painted, combining their shared love for craftsmanship and artistry. Boyce was also a dedicated member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, a place that connected him to his community and faith.

Boyce is survived by two children, Mark Hester (Tammy) and Kelly Herring; four grandchildren, Chandler Herring, Kendall Herring, Ashley Elrod (Landon), and Chase Hester (Nora); one great-grandson, Ryder Hester, and one on the way.

In addition to his wife and parents, Boyce is preceded in death by a brother, Don Hester.

A private graveside service will be held.
