Brenda Lane Glaze - Clemson, SC – Brenda Lane Glaze, affectionately known as “Bunk” to most, died on July 2, 2026, at the age of 85. Born February 23, 1941, in Marion, SC, she was the oldest child of Willie Marvin and Mary Estelle Lane. She graduated from Marion High School and Winthrop College. Many would argue that she was the true athlete of the Glaze family as she finished her competitive playing career undefeated, having never lost a game in her six-year Marion High School Lassie Fox basketball career. A lifelong Clemson Tiger, she and her late husband began their life together in Tigertown while he completed his football playing days under Coach Frank Howard. She, however, also faithfully supported The Citadel, Wofford College, The College of Charleston, Oklahoma City University, Queens University and Presbyterian College while her sons and grandchildren participated in intercollegiate athletics and dance at their respective schools.

Bunk wed Coleman O. Glaze in January of 1962, and they were blessed with 58 wonderful years of marriage, primarily as members of the Charleston and Clemson area communities. She is survived by sons Lee Glaze (Fran) of Sumter, SC, Lane Glaze (Anne) of Clemson, SC, Gettys Glaze (Cheryl) of Charleston, SC, and her younger brother Bill (Janice) Lane of Chattanooga TN. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her younger brother Richard (Jan) Lane of Marion, SC.

Bunk spent much of her adult life and all her retirement years supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s endeavors and never missed a game, match, tournament, recital, show, graduation or other big life event if it was possible for her to be there. Her grandchildren include Scott Glaze (Kara) of Charleston, SC, Sally Burr (Aaron) of Little River, SC, Griffin Glaze of Charlotte, NC, Grace Cole (Preston) of Charlotte, NC, Garrett Glaze of Charleston, SC, and Sadie Glaze of Charleston, SC. In recent years she was blessed with five beautiful great-granddaughters whom she cherished, including Eleanor Rose and Hattie Lee Burr of Little River, SC, Margaret (Maggie) Sullivan and Sutton Estelle Glaze of Charleston, SC, and Jane Coleman Cole of Charlotte, NC.

Bunk lived her life in service to others both publicly and privately. While she served in numerous roles both at both John Wesley UMC in Charleston and Clemson UMC, in recent years she found great joy serving meals to college students through The Clemson Wesley Foundation and the children and youth at Clemson UMC. Everyone who met her experienced her warmth, love and joy. Her home, heart and circle of “favorites” were ever-expanding until the end.

Her greatest passion, by far, was her family. She was fiercely loyal and loving to family and close friends. Her “three boys” and their families were the apples of her eye and always the animated topic of her conversations. She leaves a shining example of self-sacrificial, unconditional love that her family and close friends will never forget and one that we all hope to emulate.
