Brenda Joyce Merritt, affectionately known as Joyce, was born on February 5, 1943, in Anderson, South Carolina. She peacefully departed this life on February 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Joyce dedicated herself to her family, providing unwavering support and nurturing for her husband, Terry, and their children. She embraced her role as a loving wife and devoted mother, demonstrating what it meant to put family first. Their marriage of over 40 years stands testament to her deep commitment and the bond they shared.

Joyce was a woman of great personality, known for her loving and outgoing nature. She had an exceptional ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger, often engaging people in delightful conversations. Her zest for life was apparent in everything she did, from sharing stories to singing her favorite gospel hymns.

In addition to nurturing her family, Joyce loved to travel. She and Terry enjoyed many memorable trips together in their younger years. The adventures they shared became invaluable moments that contributed to the love-filled life they built together.

Joyce's family meant the world to her, and her influence will continue to resonate throughout their lives. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and strong family values, which will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joyce leaves behind her daughter Melissa Barnette, her son Greg Shepherd (Marie), her grandchildren, Jensen Stewart (Katlynn), Alexis Stewart, Devan Barnette (Halley), Shad Shepherd, and Melanie Porras, as well as many great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Terry Merritt, her daughter, Kelli Cooper, and her parents, Archie and Catherine Seigle.

A graveside service will be held in her honor on February 20, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM at Robinson Memorial Gardens, located at 1425 Powdersville Rd, Easley, South Carolina.
