Mrs. Broadus Sizemore Hopkins, 91, a lifelong resident of Easley and loving wife of the late John G. Hopkins, was born October 25, 1924 to the late Willie Wright Sizemore and the late Inez Lindsey Sizemore. She quietly passed away at home peacefully on October 9, 2016.
She was the proud mother of two sons, John Hopkins (Kathy) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dan Hopkins (Beverly) of Easley, SC; two daughters, Carol Ann Hoxit (Gary), and Andrea Stegall (Palmer), all of Easley. Her terrific grandchildren include Kevin Hoxit, Katie Hopkins (Brian), Taylor Hopkins, and Justin and Sarah Stegall, all of Easley, Kyle Hopkins (Kelley) of Baltimore MD, Amy Barthold (Lee) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Chris Hopkins (Katie) of Warner Robbins, GA; and seven precious great-grandchildren, Isaac and Alasdair Hoxit, Zachary Smith, Cain and India Hopkins, Emma Barthold, and Marshall Hopkins. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Melissa and Emily Hoxit; a brother, William W. Sizemore; and two sisters, Polly S. Garraux and Bess S. Griffith.
She loved her family, church and community, and spent her life in service to each of them. She was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher to youth, college students, infants and children. Mrs. Hopkins was a past president of United Methodist Women, and served on various committees in the church. She volunteered and worked with the Pickens County Meals on Wheels and Easley Friends of the Library. Broadus served as program chairperson for the Easley's Alzheimer's Support group, brought the first Alzheimer's walk to Pickens County and served on the board for the Hamilton House, which was Easley's first civic center.
Mrs. Hopkins graduated from Easley High School, and she was a former employee and later a volunteer of Baptist Easley Hospital, and was also one of the Founding Families of East End Elementary School. She was a member of the Easley Women's Club and the Azalea Garden Club.
She will be greatly missed by friends and family, all of whom she loved deeply and loved her just as much.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
