"Brooksie" Jones

Alma Brooks "Brooksie" Young Jones, 91, of Clemson and widow of Champ M. Jones, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born in Ninety Six, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Maxwell and Mattie Mae Purkerson Young. Brooksie was a 1944 graduate of Lander College, a homemaker and also taught pre school kindergarten at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church for many years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Clemson for over 71 years where she worked with Mission Friends for over 20 years and was known for her work with shut-ins and visiting nursing homes.
Surviving are three sons, Champ M. Jones, Jr. (Grace), of Clemmons, NC, Henry B. Jones (Nancy) of Clemson and John B. Jones (Trina) of Greer; five grandchildren, Meredith G. Jones, Alexandria, VA, Champ M. Jones III, Brooklyn, NY, Henry B. Jones, Jr., Charleston, SC, Tyler C. Jones, Atlanta, GA and Brooks A. Jones, Chicago, IL; one great-grandson, Grayson Richard Jones, of Atlanta, GA.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Benjamin M. Young, Jr, John C. Young, James P. Young and Roy N. Young.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday following the graveside service at First Baptist Church, Clemson with Rev. Dr. Rusty Brock officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
