Mr. Burnett Garnet Roper, 82, husband of JoAnn Nalley Roper, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, September 28, 2017.
Born March 2, 1935 in Gainesville, GA, a son of the late Elbert Voyle and Viola Chapman Roper, Mr. Roper was a graduate of Liberty High School and retired from a long career in the textile industry. He was an active member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Garnet was an avid fan of Clemson Football and Baseball, and Old Western Movies, Black and White, and Silent.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-four years, are three daughters, Diane R. Huff (George) of Greenville, Candice R. Shealy (Dale) of Fountain Inn and Allison R. Knight of Easley; three brothers; a sister; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Bailey and Cody. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roper was predeceased by four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Fairview United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Sunday at the church, prior to the service.
Family members are at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society, The Kidney Association or to the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
