Byron Case Dame

Byron Dame passed quietly the morning of February 28, 2015 at NHC rehabilitation center in Anderson, SC while napping after a warm breakfast and a hot cup of coffee.
Byron was born May 21, 1927 in Syracuse, NY to Robert Edson Dame and Georgia Case Dame. Byron's early years were spent between Syracuse, New York City, and Cazenovia. After graduation from high school, he entered the US Army Air Corps in 1945. Upon leaving the service, Byron attended Syracuse University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Following the completion of his education, he began a career in corporate accounting which lead to a career with a variety
international textile corporations. On August 15,1953, he married Carolyn Reed and together they had many adventures over the next nearly 62 years, residing in Clemson for the last 40 years. During his career Byron traveled extensively throughout the world, and he and Carolyn continued to travel for pleasure in their retirement, meeting and making friends in many areas throughout the United States and Europe. Byron also had numerous hobbies and interests, including stamp collecting, collecting pottery, fine china, glassware. He enjoyed and spent time visiting the Seagrove potters, learning about the many of the potters and how to identify each of their pieces. He took pleasure in finding treasures at garage sales and identifying and categorizing them, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, fishing, and simply puttering around the house. Byron had a great laugh as well as a great sense of humor and he will be sorely missed by his
wife, his children, his daughter in-law, his grandsons, and other family and friends.
Byron is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his brother Bob, and his sister Averill. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his son Ron (Jane Robinson) of Asheville, NC, his daughter Elizabeth Dame of Arlington, VA, grandsons James Dame (Erika) and Andrew Dame (Ashley), great granddaughter Annabelle, and great grandson Forrest.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at NHC Health and Rehabilitation, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Harry Morse and Dr. Glen Quattlebaum, friends Earl and Scooty Burch, Delores Patterson and Wendell Allen.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pendleton with burial to follow in the churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Holy Trinity Church,193 Old Greenville Hwy, Clemson, SC 29631, or any chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
