Charles Theron Owen, 83, of 111 Mulliken Road went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home.
Born in Central, he was a son of the late Arley E. and Lizzie Talley White Owen. Theron was a retired insurance agent, US Army veteran and a member of Freedom Fellowship Church of Central. He was an avid gardener and was known in the community as "the collard man".
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Nettie Poore Owen of the home; two daughters, Phyllis O. (Bill) White of Chester, SC and Kennetha L. Owen of Seattle, WA; two brothers, Cecil Owen of Pendleton, SC and Arley E. Owen, Jr. of Easley; a sister, Avanelle Whitfield of Seneca; and one granddaughter, Mary Ann (Jesse) Todd of Chester, SC.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 PM, Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Freedom Fellowship Church, 1038 Church Street, Central, SC 29630.
