Calvin Gene Hangebrauck (91) passed away on October 25, 2017, at Hospice of the Foothills in Seneca, SC.
Calvin was born on October 28, 1925, and grew up in Waukegan, IL. He served his country as a member of the Mighty Eighth Air Force who occupied Germany at the conclusion of World War II. He married Rita Christenson, and they raised their six kids in Wildwood, IL. He met his second wife Sammye in 1975, and they married and then relocated with his expanded family south to their eventual Camelot in Fair Play, SC. Cal had a 38 year career as a Manufacturing Engineer for Anchor Coupling. His hobbies included stamp collecting and photography, and he compiled a lifetime of home movies and photos of his family, friends, travels, fishing trips, and simply days in the life. He was known for telling spirited stories of his treasured times.
In addition to his wife, Sammye, he is survived by his children Gary (Jackie) Hangebrauck, Cheryl (Kurt) Kleine, Lynne (Tarmo) Viirre, Gregg (Debbie) Hangebrauck, Guy (Sandy) Hangebrauck, JoAnn Hardison; grandchildren Clint (Lindsey) Hangebrauck, Kevin (Lara) and Kaye Kleine, Eva and Callie Hangebrauck, Sarah and Kyle Hangebrauck, Haley and Lindsey Hardison; great grandchildren Savannah, Conner, and Kaliko Hangebrauck; stepchildren Raymond (Deanna) Holder, Bobbie (James) Gibson, Catherine Bigbie, Angela (Jeremy) Benjamin all of South Carolina and Geneva (Donnie) Snow of North Carolina; his sister-in-law Ruth Brauck; his special cat Lulu; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents Del and Esther Hangebrauck, his brother Cliff Brauck, his sisters Pearl (Walter) Rundquist and Lois (Harry) Wilson, and his first wife Rita Hangebrauck.
