Carilyn Haynes Smith

Carilyn Haynes Smith, 86, of Piedmont, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023.

Born in Pocahontas, AR, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Opal Marie Brown Haynes.

She graduated from Pocahontas High School, where she was a member of the basketball team. After high school, she attended nursing school in Memphis, TN. She worked at Wren Middle School for almost 10 years and later at Southern Oaks Golf course for about 20 years, where she made many friends and was well loved.

Carilyn enjoyed flowers and gardening singing in the church choir at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, Piedmont where she was a member. She was also athletic and enjoyed playing basketball and softball.

Carilyn is survived by a son, Deron Wayne Smith of Seneca; a daughter, Laura Smith Wiles (Adam) of Greenville; a sister, Barbara Gschwend of Jonesboro, AR; and two grandchildren, Calla and Ellis Wiles

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marilyn Mann.
