Carl Edward Shipman, 95, husband of Sara Brown Shipman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Born in Greenville County, a grandson of the late W.T. Thornton and the late Susan Thornton, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed rebuilding and restoring antique cars, fishing, camping, gardening, yard work, and spending time with his family. He retired as a department manager from J.P. Stevens Dunean Plant after forty-seven years of service. Mr. Shipman proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Easley.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Michael Shipman (Til), David Shipman (Gwen), and Dennis Ray Shipman (Donna), all of Powdersville; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Stephen Zane Shipman; and a great-granddaughter, Kai Shipman.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Siloam Baptist Church, 229 Siloam Road, Easley, SC 29642. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Friday at the church, prior to the service.
