Mr. Carl E. Watkins, 81, husband of Marie Casey Watkins, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his home.
Born in Walhalla, SC, a son of the late Rev. John William and Mary Harvey Watkins, Mr. Watkins established Watkins Insurance Agency in Easley, from which he retired in 1994. He also served on the City Council of Easley, the Civil Service Commission, the City of Easley Elector Commission, and the Pickens County Tax Appeals Board.
Mr. Watkins was a faithful member of Easley Church of God and a US Navy Veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty years, are two daughters, Sherry Watkins Grant and her husband Sammy Grant, and Carla Watkins Parks and her husband Randy Parks, all of Easley; a son, John V. Watkins and his wife Kristi Watkins of Easley; seven grandchildren, Justin Grant, Joshua Grant, Casey Parks, Mary Parks, Jesse Parks, Bailey Watkins, and Will Watkins; and one great-grandchild, McKenzie Grant. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watkins was predeceased by a son, Ron William Watkins; four brothers, Ed, Joe, Clem and Lloyd Watkins; and two sisters, Gladys Watkins Cape and Mary Polly Watkins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2015 at Easley Church of God. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 PM Friday at the church, prior to the service.
The family is at the home.
