Carlos Andrew Smith, 61, of 121 Tadpole Lane, died Friday, August 22, 2008, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Carlos Andrew and Nellie Pauline Gilstrap Smith. He retired from Alice Manufacturing Company, and he attended Wayside Baptist Church. He played lead guitar with several community bands including the Willimon Family Bluegrass Band.

Surviving are his spouse, Evelyn Morris Bagwell Smith, of the home; two sons, James Smith and Dustin Smith, both of Easley; a step-son, Brian Bagwell, of Easley; two daughters, Dawn Gilstrap and Beth Russell, both of Pickens; a step-daughter, Ann Hembree, of Easley; two brothers, Ricky Smith, of Pickens and Randell Smith, of Easley; three sisters, Diane Richards, of Easley, Lucille Talley, of Pickens and Gail Neal, of Liberty; and 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Sargent; a brother, Joe Smith; and two sisters, Janice Sutherland and Mildred Todd.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Burial will follow in Golden Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. Escort of Honor will be band members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carlos Smith Fund, c/o Robinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 387, Easley, S.C. 29641-0387.
