Carmon C. Smith, 83, husband of Geraldine Thornton Smith, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Cottingham House in Seneca after a lengthy illness. A native of Wayne County, Georgia he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Corine Bowen Smith. He enjoyed gardening and was devoted to his family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Italy as an Honor Guard during World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Moore and her husband David of Six Mile; sister, Willene King of Waycross, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Moore of Liberty and Holly Hall of Easley and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Andrian Smith and a sister, Eloise Rogers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central with burial to follow in Kings Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Six Mile. The family is at the residence, 445 Wood Street, Central, SC 29630.
