Carol Wallize Miller, 92, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late Simon Miller, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at her home.
Born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Arthur and Ruth Peters Wallize. Carol was a beloved member of Bethesda United Methodist Church for over 20 years. She was a beacon of intelligence, warmth, creativity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Carol was the valedictorian of her high school class at Uniontown High School in Pennsylvania. Her sharp intellect and dedication led her to a successful career in administration in Fluid Control.
It was not just her professional achievements that made Carol special. Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, she had an uncanny ability to bring joy to those around her. Whether it was through her well-timed jokes or her famous hugs that she was known for at church, Carol always found ways to make people smile.
A gifted crafter, she poured her heart into hobbies, knitting everything from baby gifts to Christmas ornaments. Her passion for creating extended to her work with plastic canvas, where she meticulously crafted intricate dollhouses, furniture, and other treasures that reflected her patience and creativity.
Her faith guided her life, and she expressed it through service to others. She volunteered thousands of hours at the local hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years, and gave her time generously to the Red Cross. Her contributions to these organizations were immeasurable and she touched countless lives through her selfless acts of kindness.
She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Buchkovich and Marlene Price; nine grandchildren, Philip Retkofsky (Sarah), Robert Retkofsky (Evelyn), Todd Buchkovich, Russell Price, Miranda Forbes (Nathan), Jacob Buchkovich (Brittany), Mayemma Duggan (Bryan), Arthur Buchkovich (Amber), and Simon Buchkovich; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John Arthur Wallize, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Bethesda United Methodist Church. The Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Church Sanctuary.
