Carol Adams Stanford, aged 88, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at her apartment in Greenville, South Carolina.

She was born December 25, 1938, in Montclair, New Jersey, to the late Robert S. Adams and Eleanor Hanna Adams.

Carol was raised in Newburyport Massachusetts, attended Walnut Hill High School, and graduated from Mt. Vernon College in Washington D.C. in 1959.

While working for the clothing industry in Boston, she met and married James B. Jackson, who was completing his post-graduate work in dentistry. The two then moved to Charleston, South Carolina.

Carol spent the majority of her life in Charleston, where she opened her interior design business and was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Carol served the greater local community with her memberships to the Junior League of Charleston, the Charleston Ballet, and the Charleston Symphony League.

After a divorce in 1990, Carol married Alan G. Stanford.

Carol was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she was a choir member and served on various committees including the Flower Committee and St. Stephen’s Committee.

Carol was also a life-long equestrian. From a young age, she rode horses for fun and show and later she would raise and train horses for others.

She moved to Clemson South Carolina in 2021 and then to Greenville South Carolina in 2024.

Carol is survived by her brother Bobby Adams; children, Eleanor Jackson Perkins (Wilson) and Stuart Adams Jackson (Leslie); granddaughters Eliana Hollington and Samantha Flynn; step-daughters Sherry Stanford Rest (Cash), Patricia Stanford Guerry (Gil), and Annette Stanford Broomfield (Jeff); step-grandchildren David Rest (Laura), Jennifer Olson (Travis), Maria Guerry Filosa (Nick), William Guerry (Jaime), Alex Broomfield (Desja), and Patti Broomfield; and several great-grandchildren.

Carol Is predeceased by her husband, Alan G Stanford, and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Adams.

A private family service will be held.
