Carolyn "Carol" Bourland Dickerson

Carolyn “Carol” Bourland Dickerson, 87, of Clemson, passed away April 7, 2022.

A native of Mulberry, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Cena and Homer Bourland. She was a graduate of Mulberry, Arkansas High School.  She received an Associate Degree from Arkansas Tech University and a B.S. degree from the University of Arkansas.  She taught in the Public School System of Maryland and Kansas.  She was an active supporter of Pickens County Habitat for Humanity, for which she served as a Board member, Fundraiser and Historian. Carol was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church, having served in many roles and capacities.  She was a member of the Clemson University Woman’s Club.  Mrs. Dickerson loved working with flowers at the church and elsewhere.  She enjoyed music, sports and was an avid Tiger and Braves fan.

Mrs. Dickerson is survived by her husband, Ottie Joe Dickerson of the home; sons, Kenneth B. Dickerson (Stephanie) and Keith J. Dickerson (Mary); grandson, Paul Dickerson (Ashley); great grandsons, Parker, Caden and Hudson; step grandchildren, Tara Tripp, Chase Tripp and Riley Barsella.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews and their families. 

She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Dickerson; great grandson, Michael Dickerson, Jr.; two brothers, James T. Bourland and Herbert O’Thell Bourland; sister, Frances Bourland Peck.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Clemson United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
