Carolyn McCollum Lindsay died on March 26, 2013. Born March 28, 1924 in Clemson, she was the daughter of Margaret Pike and Pickens Smith McCollum. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Marvin Davis (Slack) Lindsay. She attended Calhoun Clemson High School and Furman University.
A lifetime Clemson resident, Carolyn was an avid Tiger fan! She was a beautiful person filled with grace and charm. Always the perfect hostess, she was a gourmet cook who loved entertaining family and friends. Clemson students and their dates were always welcome in her home.
In 1993 Carolyn was honored as the Clemson University Tiger Brotherhood's Mother of the Year. A longtime member of the Andrew Pickens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she was also a lifetime member of the Clemson United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Esther Circle. She also held membership in the Clemson Cotillion Club, the Clan Lindsay USA and the Saint Andrews Society.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn McCollum Bentley, Margaret McCollum Lever and Kathry McCollum Wray.
Carolyn was a greatly loved mother and grandmother. Family survivors include daughters, Ann Copsey and husband, Ron, of Greenville, Susan Bishop and husband, Frank, of Atlanta and son, Pickens Lindsay and wife, Libby, of Atlanta. She is survived by six grandchildren, Lindsay Bishop, Trey Bishop, Drew Pearce, Rivers Pearce and wife Leigh Ann, Elizabeth Lindsay Gates and husband, James, and Pickens Lindsay Jr. and wife, Alexis; and three great-grandchildren, Kennedy Pearce Anna Blair Gates and Davis Gates.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 29, 2013 at Clemson United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
