Carolyn Dobson Shirley

Carolyn Dobson Shirley, 89, of Pendleton, wife to the late Robert “Bob” Shirley, passed away February 20, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Dobson and Jesse Smith Dobson. Carolyn worked several jobs throughout her career, but her favorite was working with her son’s landscaping business. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shirley was a member of East Clemson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Thomas R. Shirley (Gina) of Pendleton and Debra Shirley Donnelly (Brian) of Powdersville; grandchildren, Justin Shirley (Brittney), Michael Shirley, and Katelyn Donnelly Link (Michael); great-grandchildren, Layla Shirley and Connor Link. brother, James Arthur Dobson, Jr. of Liberty; sisters, Pauline Bearden of Pickens and Ann Martin of Liberty.

Mrs. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, husband; great-grandson, Jesse Shirley; brother, James Arthur Dobson, Jr.; sisters, Pauline Bearden and Ann Martin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at East Clemson Baptist Church.

Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens.
