Carolyn Anna Vargo, 87, of Easley, South Carolina, loving wife of Ralph G. Vargo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Panama City, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Lynn and Bonnie Whitehead Allpress. Carolyn dedicated her life to being a homemaker and creating a nurturing environment for her family. With a heart full of affection and a spirit that could be described as feisty at times, she filled each day with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Carolyn’s greatest passion was her family. She found immense joy in spending time with them, whether it was gathered around the dinner table enjoying her delicious home-cooked meals or sharing stories under the sun. With her competitive edge, she would often challenge family members to spirited games of Rummy, ensuring that every gathering was sprinkled with a little excitement and friendly rivalry. Her culinary skills were legendary, and she was particularly famous for her Fried Peach Pies and delectable Greek Cookies, which will forever remain a sweet reminder of her caring nature.
An avid lover of nature, Carolyn found peace in tending to her beautiful flower garden. Her devotion to her plants was evident; she would even enlist her husband to dig up flowers and move them indoors to protect them from frost after they had been lovingly planted. Her green thumb not only brightened her home but also reflected her nurturing spirit and desire to cultivate beauty wherever she could.
Many of her fondest memories were made during trips to the beach, where she reveled in riding the waves with her loved ones, enjoying the salty air and the warmth of the sun on her skin. These moments by the shore illustrated her love for life and her unwavering spirit that embraced every opportunity for adventure.
Carolyn leaves behind a legacy woven into the hearts of her family. She will always be remembered as a loving matriarch who brought people together through food, fun, and unconditional love. As they gather to honor her memory, her family takes comfort in knowing that her strength and spirit will continue to guide them in the days to come. She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her loving husband of 68 years, she is survived by a son, Joe Vargo (Sherrie); a daughter-in-law, Catherine Vargo; a brother, Buddy Allpress; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Michael Vargo.
