Mrs. Carree Lewis McKinney, 92, wife of the late Hugh Dean McKinney, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Eugene Alexander and Maude Smith Lewis, Mrs. McKinney was a graduate of Pickens High School, Lander College, and later Clemson University where she earned her Master's degree. Mrs. McKinney taught algebra, calculus and physics over the course of her thirty plus years in education. She retired from the School District of Pickens County as the Assistant Principal of Easley High School. Carree had a passion for gardening and bird watching.
Surviving are two sons, Tom McKinney (Kay), and Gene McKinney (Vickie), all of Easley; six grandchildren, Robin Pope, Karen Hernandez, Daniel McKinney, Bill McKinney, Robert McKinney, and Anna McKinney; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McKinney was predeceased by three brothers, Clyde, Olin and Alex Lewis; and two sisters, Rachel Dunlap and Sybil Reece.
Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Georges Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:15 PM Tuesday at the church, prior to the service.
