Cary Bryant Angell, 43, unexpectantly departed this life and entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Cary, whose name most fittingly means "beloved friend and divine spark" was the treasured son of Rt. Rev. Dr. E.W. Chip Angell and Sheri Holden Angell of Westminster, S.C. Other survivors include his wife, Amber, and three daughters, Millie, Eliza and Anna Beth. Surviving siblings include Bryce (Abbie) Angell, Atlanta, GA, Olivia Angell Thurston, Greenville, S.C., Aaron (Olivia) Angell, Greenville, S.C., Elias (Shawna) Angell, Greenville, S.C., Asher (Katie) Angell, Greenville, S.C., and Antoinette Angell, Greenville, S.C.
Cary was a talented musician and chef, if you can imagine the two together. He had an uncanny ear for music and could pick up and play nearly any instrument handed to him. Having studied culinary arts at Johnson & Wales in Charleston, Cary was known for his specially prepared meals when the family would all gather at their homestead in Westminster, SC. Whether Cary was preparing his signature chimichurri sauce for beef brisket or smoking pork ribs and Boston butt on the grill, he never stopped creating and dazzling with his passion and desire for everyone to “at least take a bite” of his latest/most flavor packed creation. Cary was also extremely gifted in his vocation as a software engineer at Fluor, where he helped develop and code a portion of our military’s infrastructure systems, amongst other Department of Defense projects assigned to him.
But far and above his musical and culinary pursuits, Cary’s greatest passion and call was being “Daddy” to his beloved girls, Millie, Eliza, and Anna Beth. His fatherly love for each of his girls was never more apparent than when he would take them for “little adventures” whether it was a hike at Glassy Mountain or swimming at the family pool (or any pool for that matter). Cary’s devotion and tender love was always an encouragement and delight to see. His eyes never shined brighter nor were filled with more joy than when he was with his beloved Millie, Eliza and Anna Beth.
Cary's generosity extended beyond the confines of his immediate family, touching the lives of those around him with his kindness and compassion. His zest for life encouraged all who knew him to embrace life with the same fervor and enthusiasm. Cary never met a stranger and was able to make even the most alienated of folks feel loved and cared for in such a warm and compassionate way. He was a beloved son, devoted father, faithful brother and a blessed gift to all who knew him during his 43 years of abundant life. Our hope is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, Cary has crossed over where death is no more, grief, crying and pain will be no more and where the Lord God wipes away all tears because the previous things have passed away.
