Catherine Juanita Wade Edwards, 90, affectionately known as “Bobbie,” wife of the late Wallace Edwards, passed away on September 30, 2023.
Born on September 26, 1933, Bobbie was the daughter of the late Herschel and Pauline Wade. She grew up in Seneca, South Carolina. She was very athletic in grade school, with a particular talent for basketball. After she married the love of her life, Wallace Edwards, they settled in Robbins, North Carolina to raise their family. Bobbie and Wallace had been married for 65 years when he passed, and their family has always been inspired by their devotion to one another.
The family fondly remembers her incredible cooking and baking. Her food brought her children and grandchildren together around her table for decades, making holiday and everyday celebrations special. Her handmade biscuits were her grandchildren’s favorite, as well as her chocolate pies.
Bobbie did not reserve her fine cooking for her family. She also shared it with those who needed it most. For decades, Bobbie regularly prepared and delivered food to the indigent in her community. She was a devout Christian and active member of her church, First Baptist Church in Robbins, North Carolina.
Bobbie proved to be gifted in almost every endeavor she tried. She was a brilliant seamstress, able to knit, crochet, and sew. She was deeply admired for her eye for antique furniture, and her skill at restoring it. In fact, Bobbie opened a very successful antique business. Always keeping busy, she later spent years serving as a letter carrier.
Above all, Bobbie will be remembered for the profound love and support she showed her family. She passed surrounded by her children.
Bobbie is survived by many loving family members including son, John Reid Edwards; daughter, Katherine Edwards Frankel (Steven); brother, Tommy Wade Jr.; grandchildren, Catharine Elizabeth Edwards Upham (Trevor), Michael Edwards Taylor (Shannon), Julianne Amelia Taylor, Patricia Ann Edwards, Emma Claire Edwards, John Atticus Edwards and Francis Quinn Hunter; great grandchildren, Sophia Taylor, Wayland Taylor, Wade Upham, Cash Taylor, Roth Upham, Rylee Wilhelm and Helen Upham.
