Catherine Wilson Young, 86, of Piedmont, wife of the late Frank Young, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Richard and Mae Merritt Wilson, Mrs. Young was a teacher for Anderson County Schools and a church organist for 50 years. Mrs Young was also a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Arledge of Easley, Joan (Doug) Moody of Piedmont and Cathy (Darrell) Parnell of Abbeville; a sister, Mary (Gene) Neely of Piedmont; one brother, Virgil (Louvelle) Wilson of Clemson; a sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson; five grandchildren, Rachel (Bryan) McCall, Justin (Valerie) Moody, Claire (Scott) Duffle, Wade and Katie Parnell; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Hoyle, Peyton and Mackenzie McCall, Clark Duffle.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association at 301 University RDG #5000, Greenville, SC 29601-3686.
