Cathy Chapman Hansard, 67, of Easley, South Carolina, loving wife of John Michael “Mike” Hansard, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, while surrounded by her family, after bravely battling ovarian cancer for more than 15 months. Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, and “mimi”, who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in East Point, Georgia, Cathy was a daughter of Olan Pierce Chapman, Sr, and Francis Hopkins Chapman. Cathy's journey in education led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in office occupations from Georgia College. After moving to Easley in 1996, she spent over 25 years supporting various doctors' offices in the upstate with medical administrative work. However, those fortunate enough to be a part of Cathy's life know that she always placed family first. She never missed her son’s soccer games or daughter’s horse riding lessons, and almost always found time to be team mom, class mom, or school chaperone. She had a heart of gold and poured endless love and care into her family, creating a home filled with joy and laughter. No matter who showed up for dinner, there was always enough space at the table. She found immense joy in supporting her children and their families, spoiling her grandkids, exploring the great outdoors through hiking with her husband, and tending to her beautiful garden. Her hobbies and interests reflected her nurturing nature and love for life.
In addition to her husband of over 43 years, Cathy is survived by a son, John Trevor Hansard (Kimberly Ann); a daughter, Jamie Hansard Hinson (Hayes); and five grandchildren: Emersyn, Mary Addilyn, and Myers Hinson, and Hayden and Garrett Hansard.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Pierce Chapman, and a sister, Marian Louise Seals.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Duke Cancer Institute, https://www.gifts.duke.edu/dci?technique_code=CCCWBDNN.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the care given to Cathy by the Duke University oncology department, including, but not limited to, Dr. Andrew Berchuck, Dr. Isabell Josephs, and FNP Georgia Smith.
