Cecil C. Davis, 87, of 104 Lark Circle and husband of Ruby Sellers Davis for 64 years, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home.
Born in Chipley, GA, he was a son of the late James Pope and Maree Cecil Cook Davis. He earned a Masters Degree from University of Georgia. He began his work at Clemson College in 1949 as Assistant Professor of Economics and later served as acting department head and then was appointed Department Head and Professor of Accounting and Finance. He retired in 1982 having 35 years of service. He was US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson.
Surviving are his wife of the home; daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Harrison of Crozet, VA and her husband, Dr. James H. Harrison, Jr. and Cecilia Davis of Lancaster, SC; brother, James Pope Davis of Chipley, GA; sister, Daphne Fischer of St. Augustine, FL; two grandchildren, Rebecca Davis Harrison and Patrick Wells Harrison.
A Graveside service will be 2 PM Thursday in Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.
The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
