Cecil Carl Patterson, 80, of 107 Clay St., husband of Betty Barnwell Patterson, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born April 21, 1931 in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Gould and Daisy Dean Patterson. Mr. Patterson was an US Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and was a retired rural mail carrier in Liberty with 30 years of service. He was a faithful and longtime member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the James Tallent Sunday School Class.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his son, Alan Patterson (Kim); brothers, Russell Patterson, Winfred Patterson and Dennis Patterson; sisters, Jennie Merck and Mildred Merck; grandchildren, Dixie Waldrop (Ray), Jason Patterson, and Krista Patterson; great-grandchildren, Cross Patterson, Jadyn Patterson, Elisabella Patterson and Dowlen Waldrop.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Clayton Patterson, Hoyt Patterson and Hugh Patterson; sisters, Jessie Lou Thompson, Mozelle Smith and Grace Chapman.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Honorary Escorts will be The James Tallent Sunday School Class and friends of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
