Chaplain (Ret.) Robert Anthony Salemme, 92, husband of the late Lillian Maudean "Dean" Walker Salemme, passed peacefully Wednesday, July 27, 2016, after a long struggle with dementia, at his home.
Born in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late Anthony Joseph Salemme and Jeannette Reppucci Salemme.
He was affectionately known as "Daddy Bob" and served in the US Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific from 1941 to 1945. Chaplain (Ret.) Salemme then served in the US Army from 1953 to 1970 in Germany, Japan and the United States. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley for 8 years.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Dorothy Petit of Quincy, MA, his son, Robert S. Salemme of Tampa, FL, and two granddaughters, Tony Jaye Bauer and Angela Salemme.
Surviving are a son, Charles "Tony" Salemme, and his wife, Margaret, of Killen, AL; two daughters, Frances "Fran" Conn and husband, Samuel, of Easley, and Dorothy "Dee" McCorkle and husband, Robert, of Perrysburg, OH; a daughter-in-law, Susan Salemme of Seffner, FL; 14 nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1st at 1:00 PM in Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Frances Conn.
Flowers are accepted at the funeral home, and donations may be made directly to Interim Hospice, 810 Powdersville Rd, Easley, SC 29642.
